Went to Tampines Mall for some moon-cakes buying. I have been dying to buy those heavenly-testing Snow-skin Durian Mooncakes for ages,i waited for them every year. I hated moon-cakes actually, but snow skin durian moon-cakes are like the best!! And i am referrin to the ones that are stuffed with fresh D24 durian, it tasted almost like mochi on the outside but its squishy n sweet with the thick flesh of durian on the inside.
Went to Kia Hiang booth, took their price list n went over to the other booths in the center atrium, saw many people testing the durian moon-cakes at 717 Trading Booth, the signage stated they were the durian specialty shop, and i totally believe them. The sweet fresh durian smell that comes from the booth is simply irrisistable, but as a well-trained future auntie, i squeeze in for some good real testin, to check out if its real solid stuff. Its good, rating it AA++
R suggested me going back to Kia Hiang to try out their durian moon-cakes before makin my decision n i agreed. Reachin the booth, i asked the gal tending the booth
Me: Do u offer any durian moon-cakes for tasting?
Gal: Sorry we don't have durian moon-cakes.
Me(thinkin its weird as the price list stated they did n its also displayed right in front of me in their refrigerated counter, i asked again): U mean u don't have or u have run out?
Gal: Um...we have but its still soft(smiling with big toothy smile)
Me: ??!!?? Sorry???
Gal: Um 他还软软的.
Me(i dun think i look retarded but i sure feel like one now).
Me: Um..its ok, i dun mind 他还软软的.软软的就不能试吃吗？
Gal: Um..Becoz the durian mooncakes just arrived, so still soft so cannot test now.
R n I begin to understand what she means, and as we notice that it is offering 20% discount, it was a much better deal than 717 Trading,we start deciding to buy either the 9 mini ones or the 6 mini ones.
Curious about the outlook presentation of the 6 mini ones, i ask the gal.
Me: Can i take a look at how ur box for the 6 mini mooncakes looks like?
Gal: Um..(lookin at me funnily)sorry we dun have 6 mini ones.
I turn n look at R, we confirmed saw the word 6 minis on the price list lor, so i ask again.
Me: u dun have or sold out?
Gal: They are for the customers who have paid for them.
Me: Sorry what do u mean?
Gal: Um..i can't show you becoz they are only for customers who have paid money for them.
Me(gettin irritated as the seconds goes by): So if i pay for them now, than i can look at your box is it?
Gal: Lookin lost n a little scared, she ask for help from her fellow colleagues.
Gal to colleagues: Um..she ask if she pay for them now, can she reserve them?
Me findin the gal bein ridiculous, i interrupted her n ask the colleague.
Me: I asked her, does it means if i pay for them how, than i can look at ur box is it!
The colleague turn to this young man in white business shirt, this young man which turns out to be their manager i think, ask me nicely how can he help.
Me: Ur staff here said i have to pay money for them in order to see how the box for the 6 mini looks like, is that so?
Man(takin from underneath the counter, emerge with an empty moon-cake box with has 6 plastic cover on it): This is our box for our 6 mini moon-cakes, we have many years of history, n we have 9 minis too, if u buy 9 minis there is higher discount....(n he drones on n on)
Final conclusion, R n I bought 2 boxes of Durian mooncakes on the spot,we have initially thought that perhaps the gal meant that durian moon cakes requires pre-ordering, but no, we gotten ours right on the spot. Till now i have no i idea what goes in that little head of that gal. I have heard from somewhere, there is a small thin line between confidence and stupid.
In this case, i am confident that she is stupid.
