BangKok Fire

The Heartache

BEFORE FIRE

AFTER FIRE

As many may have already knew from the news, famous pub Bangkok Pub ‘Santika’ caught fire on New Year’s celebration, 61 people reported dead, with many whom died from suffocation or simply being stampede to death.

Lack of exits and stampede is one of the main causes of the huge death toll, many bodies were charred and were burnt beyond recognition.

Ironically, the New Year’s eve party was also touted as a ‘ Goodbye Santika ’ party, as the pub will be relocated in the next few days. Police has already ruled out arson, stating firecrackers, pyrotechnics or electrical as the reason behind the fire there were survivors who said that they didn’t see any pyrotechnics just the DJ and the Band.

IMO more investigations should be made before arson is being ruled out. I just wonder if Santika had purchase fire insurance for themselves, to be burnt down just days before they moved to another place sounds so much of a coincidence.

A place that is popular with Bangkok’s elite could actually do such a rush act such as allowing fireworks in an enclosed area. Don’t they have common sense or in their bid to make their pub the most "happening" place, they have allow Devil to enter their mind!!!

I shuddered when I read about the comments by the survivors, “People were screaming for help from every window, their hair and clothes were on fire and they was nothing they could do as the fire engulfed them. One has to step over layers of bodies in order to get out.

I agreed totally with what their Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjjeva said , “ why let someone take fireworks inside the pub and light them up ” To allow fireworks in the pub is like waiting for a disaster to happen. I read the reports, and it states that fire is caused by the Fireworks that were shoot up to the ceiling forming the words “ Happy New Year ”, y can’t these organizers be contented with laser.

According to reports from the Bangkok post, EACH guest were actually GIVEN one firecracker to light INSIDE during the countdown. I find this simply ridiculous, if its something like our Sentosa’s Silosa beach party than at least its sounds right, but imagine allowing 1000 people into a pub and to have 1000 firecrackers shooting up at the same time, it will be a miracle not to have a fire to take place, to me it seems all well-predicted.

Senior fireman at the scene commented that pub staff was able to escape from the back as they knew of the exit doors but the others who didn’t know could only wait to die. Im angry at this fact that staff did not lead more people to these exit doors, more lives could have been saved. These people were probably afraid that people would fight with them in going for these live saving exits. Hope they will remember that many have died because they didn’t lend a helping hand.

I was reminded of the SIA stewardess whom face was burnt and disfigured as she stayed behind to help passengers exit the burning Boeing plane. If not for her, more people may not have survived. She is one hero that I believe her soul will raise up high and will be honored by many.

I went to their official website and saw this poster of their past event that happens just 2 months back, the poster seems to predict their doom, closing my eyes i can imagine the horror, fear and despair, the pain on their body like during the Fire, the dark enclosed pub is like what this poster tells, surrounded by Fire, being in Hell. Shudder again....

May all their souls rest in peace.
